Abstract: | This study attempts to understand the status of female enterprises in Indian unorganized sector. We view female entrepreneurs in the unorganized enterprises in two perspective; entrepreneurs as necessity and opportunity entrepreneur. This paper strives to find the relevant factors that differentiate between these two entrepreneurs as this disaggregation gives clear picture of their participation. We find that the number of necessity entrepreneurs is rising over time and women are working within household premises without hiring any worker, which imply that they work for their subsistence and scope for growth is very limited, thereby remained marginal. |
