Title: Quint-band bandpass filter using two stepped-impedance resonators

Abstract: In this paper, the design and implementation of a quint-band bandpass filter employing just two stub-loaded stepped-impedance resonators is presented. The flexibility in controlling the fundamental and higher order resonant frequencies based on the impedance ratio and electrical length ratios of an open stub-loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SL-SIR) is utilized to design a multi-band bandpass filter. A quint-band filter has been designed and fabricated with centre frequencies of 2 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 4.3 GHz, 5.4 GHz, and 6.9 GHz. Overall size of the filter is 0.36λg x 0.11λg. Measured results from the fabricated filter are in good agreement with simulated results. Better passband insertion losses are obtained as compared to most of the reported quint-band filters. Compactness, design simplicity and ease of fabrication are the main advantages of the proposed filter. © 2017 IAMOT.
