Title: Hartley transform for detection of seismic events

Abstract: An algorithm based on fast Hartley transform, which is faster than the fast Fourier transform (FFT), has been developed to detect seismic events, using both amplitude and frequency information. A single digital data stream is used to obtain a 32-point Hartley transform. The transform values are converted into a characteristic value which in turn is compared with a threshold value to declare an event. Frequency discrimination is made by using a selected portion of the Hartley transform bandwidth.
