Title: A pilot investigation for comparative assessment of corrosion durability of reinforced concrete beams

Abstract: This paper reports the results of an experimental program which was carried out on a few damaged reinforced concrete beams for the purpose of comparing their performances in terms of corrosion durability. The parameters investigated for this purpose were half cell potential for corrosion initiation, concrete resistivity and theoretically estimated steel losses as per Faraday's law. Their durability was adjudged based upon the collective findings from these tested parameters. The study aims to closely monitor the effect of important factors such as concrete type, mechanical loading history and minor surface repair effects on corrosion development. ¬© 2014 ACC Limited.
