Title: Analysis of transport related SPM

Abstract: Industrialization and urbanization have resulted in very deep deterioration of India's air quality. Thus knowing the status of air quality and its effects on human health and his environment, "Roorkee", town (a temple of learning), a semi-urban area was selected as the study area for this work. Primary pollutants, such as suspended particulate matter (SPM) and respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM or PM 10) were monitored in study area at 4 locations for 1 hr sampling period. Cascade impactor (RCI), high volume sampler (HVS), and respirable dust sampler (RDS) were used for the measurement of SPM and PM 10. In this study linear regression models have been developed between RSPM/SPM and influencing parameters, such as traffic volume, temperature, wind speed and humidity. St has been observed that wind speed and temperature have decreasing effects on RSPM and SPM whereas humidity have increasing effect on RSPM and SPM. Different model developed from study also indicate that second degree polynomial equation best fit into the observed data.
