Title: Studies of organotin(IV) derivatives of thiosemicarbazones

Abstract: Some five and six coordinated organotin(IV) complexes of the general formula Rn SnLm [where n=3,R=CH or C6 H5 and m=l; n=2, R=C6 H5 or C4H9 and m=l or 2, L=Schiff bases derived from the condensation of thiosemicarbazide with acetophenone(L-l), 4-nitrobenzaldehyde(L-2), cyclohexanone (L-3) and 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde(L-4) ] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, electronic spectra, infrared, far-infrared, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, Mössbauer spectral and thermal studies. The ligands are coordinated through NS and ONS donor sites. Complexes of the type R3SnL, L=L-1 for R=C6H5_ or CH3 and L=L-2 for R=C6H5_ and R2SnL, L=L-4 for r=c6H5 or C4 H9_ are five coordinated having distorted trigonal bi- pyramidal geometry while the complexes of the type R2SnL2, L=L-1 for R=C4H9; L=L-2 for R=C6-H5_ and L=L-3 for R=C4 H9 are six coordinated having distorted octahedral geometry around the tin. © 1995, Walter de Gruyter.
