Abstract: Rapidly increasing demand of electricity and depletion of conventional energy resources has been a cause of concern for the energy suppliers. Renewable energy resources (RESs) such as solar, wind and storage can be utilised as best suited solution to reduce the carbon emissions from the environment by integrating RESs into the existing grid infrastructure. Electronically controlled voltage source converters (VSCs) can be used to integrate renewable energy resources into the distribution network. Integration of these distributed resources shall not cause any adverse effect on the interconnected system. The proposed system is modelled using fractional order methodology and controlled using internal model controller (IMC). Adopted control architecture is simple and facilitates fast/smooth transfer of modes from current control to voltage control vice-versa as per the grid codes. MATLAB simulation is used to validate the proposed mechanism. © 2021 IEEE.
