Abstract: This paper presents an advanced Indirect Power Control (IPC) approach for the speed control of the induction motor (IM) drives. The IPC is developed as a next-level modification to direct torque control (DTC) and indirect real and reactive power control (IRRPC) schemes. In IPC, the real and reactive powers are used as the functions of torque and flux respectively. These power functions are used to create the switching states of the converter and thus speed control of IM drive is achieved with the provision of power factor control. The complete implementation of the proposed IPC scheme is discussed thoroughly in this paper, and validated through the MATLAB simulation for the speed control of IM drives. © 2020 IEEE.
