Abstract: Two extensively used methods for time-frequency analysis are short time Fourier transform (STFT) and Wigner distribution (WD). It is a well known fact that STFT suffers from the tradeoff between time and frequency resolution, whereas time-frequency resolution is better in case of WD. However Wigner processing gives rise to significant amount of sidelobes which makes interpretation of its output difficult. In this paper, we suppress the spectral leakage in Wigner distribution using non-linear apodization techniques.
