Title: Systematic approach for discrete excitation of helium in the Coulomb-Born model

Abstract: We have studied the electron-impact excitation of the 2 1S and 2 1P states of helium in the Coulomb-Born approximation. Closed-form expressions for scattering amplitudes have been obtained with Fourier decomposition of the interaction potential and then the use of accurate correlated wave functions. The results of the present calculations have been compared with other available theoretical calculations and experimental measurements. © 1985 The American Physical Society.
