dc.description.abstractChitosan is blended in various concentrations with polymethylmethacrylate-co-polyhydroxyethylmethacrylate (PMMA-co-PHEMA) in formic acid solution and subsequently cast to prepare their film. The miscibility of chitosan and PMMA-co-PHEMA blend is determined by using various spectroscopic and analytical techniques such as Fourier-Transform rnfrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Differential Seaming Calorimeter (DSC), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Wide angle powder X-ray Diffraction (WAXD). FT-IR study confrmed the presence of intermolecular interactions between chitosan and PMMA-co-PHEMA through the formation of hydrogen bond. On the other hand, by detecting single glass transition temperature of the entire blend composition from DSC studies proved that the blends are completely miscible. Moreover, the glass transition temperature, obtained from DSC obeys the Fox equation which further indicates their miscibility. SEM images indicate that the generated holes on acetone etching are uniformly distributed throughout the matrix. The appearance of new crystalline peak for the blends in WAXD, indicates the presence of H-bonding betweenme blended components.-
