Abstract: A high performance long wave infrared (LWIR) imaging system has been developed based upon 640 × 512 Type Two Super Lattice (T2SL) focal plane array (FPA). The main design objective of this camera was to design a compact, modular and low cost IR imaging camera with a recognition range of 4 km (against NATO target). The system runs on a single supply of 24 V@1500 mA and generates a high resolution image. The system has been developed with advance features such as non-uniformity correction (NUC), bad pixel detection and replacement (BPR), electronic zoom and image enhancement functions. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
