Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the seismicity and gravity in the Shillong massif and surrounding region to elucidate its structure and active tectonics. Seismological data consist of teleseismically located larger earthquakes and a large number of smaller earthquakes located using a local network that was operated in the Shillong massif region. The preferred model consists of a subducting lithosphere beneath the Shillong massif which rams into a previously subducting lithosphere under eastern Himalaya. -from Authors
