Abstract: Energy conservation is a crucial criterion in any industry. Generally, the process industry employs induction motors for its robustness and reliability. Engaging star-delta scheme based energy conservation for induction motors is a conventional practice in process industries. Although the star delta scheme provides economic benefits, it affects the outgrowth of the industries during electrical perturbations. This paper is concerned with the advancement of existing star-delta based energy conservation scheme with protection facility under various power quality disturbances. The proposed control scheme is implemented using DSP-based real time full spectrum stimulator. From the test result, it is observed that the proposed energy conservation scheme shall be more effective for industries confronting with electrical perturbations. © 2017 IEEE.
