Title: Enhanced electrical and mechanical properties of nanotube reinforced composites

Abstract: Halloysite nanotube (HNT) and clay were introduced into the composites to improve the dispersion of MWNT. Combining the nanotubes with HNT/clay allows both electrical and mechanical behavior to be simultaneously enhanced with the addition of HNT and clay, dielectric property is also increased tremendously. MWNTs appear to have an affinity for clay that causes them to become more exfoliated and better networked in these composites. Copyright © 2013 by ASME.
