Title: A new Three Phase 5L-UIPFC with reduced part count for High Speed Gen-Set Applications

Abstract: In this paper, a novel 3-O five-level unidirectional improved power factor converter (3P5LUIPFC) with reduced device count for high speed generator set applications is proposed. The proposed topology as similar to multi stacked conventional multilevel topologies, however, additional clamping devices to attain intermediate dc link voltages are not required. In addition, there is only one physical bi directional controlled switch is required for attaining zero voltage level. The overall topology structure offers not only minimum devices count and also standing voltage stress across devices are minimum. This can improves the efficacy of the converter system. Level shifting sine pulse width modulation technique is implemented to generate desired PWM signals. MATLAB Simulation and prototype experimentation is carried out to verify the performance of proposed topology under given operating conditions. © 2018 IEEE.
