Title: Investigation of an advanced compensated Mho relay on double circuit series compensated transmission line

Abstract: This paper presents analysis of an advanced adaptive Mho relay for protection of a double circuit transmission line in which one of the line having series compensator like Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC). First the combined impact of mutual coupling and TCSC on reach assessment of Mho relay is investigated then a compensated Mho relay algorithm is proposed for the adaptive protection of transmission line. Line to ground fault on the right side of compensated line is assumed for the validation of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that suggested algorithm improves the reach measurement of Mho relay to some extent. © 2015 IEEE.
