Title: A Small Scale Microgrid Planning based on Battery SOC for a Grid-connected Microgrid comprising of PV System

Abstract: Microgrid (MG) can be defined as a local or a small scale energy grid with control capabilities within and can be connected (Grid connected mode) or disconnected from the traditional grid as per requirement and can operate autonomously (Islanded mode). A number of technologies are being used to facilitate generation in small scale using micro-sources (MS) and the renewable energy resources (RES) such as solar, wind or hydro energy etc. In proposed realization a small scale microgrid is taken for the study with some residential loads that can be critical or non-critical (N.C) in nature, a battery with a controller, RES as solar photovoltaic system and main grid supply which is connected to the microgrid through a pole mounted transformer. Work is done for different conditions of load over a typical one full day period and the effect of that variation has been checked for SOC of battery on MATLAB environment and a comparative assessment has been done over the period for different load conditions for planning purpose. © 2017 IEEE.
