Title: A compact half-wave folded waveguide resonator for dual-band applications

Abstract: This paper illustrates a compact folded-waveguide resonator which has potential application in the synthesis of dual-band microwave circuits. An aperture coupling between two cavities realized in a dielectric substrate lined with copper is designed. The resonator is designed to have resonant frequencies at 6.9GHz and 11GHz. The prototype of the resonator is fabricated and the measured results validate the structure. There is significant reduction in size as compared to the conventional rectangular cavity resonator. The planar input-output feedlines and the use of PTFE substrate gives the added advantage that the resonator can be integrated directly with the rest of the microwave integrated circuit (MIC). © 2015 IEEE.
