Abstract: In this paper, we present the design feasibility of a megawatt class, continuous wave (CW), conventional cylindrical cavity gyrotron operating at 238 GHz for future thermonuclear fusion reactors, like the DEMO machine. Rigorous mode search followed by studies on mode competition and design feasibility are presented in this work. © 2013 IEEE.
