Title: Subpicosecond pulse generation above 2 μm in longitudinally inhomogeneous single-mode fibres

Abstract: We consider the evolution of the spectrum of a medium-power input telecom laser pulse during propagation in a longitudinally inhomogeneous flattened dispersion silica fibre. Using modelling results, we find an optimal longitudinal fibre diameter profile ensuring transfer of more than 60 % of the input pulse energy to a subpicosecond pulse in the range 2.2 - 2.3 μm. © 2018 Kvantovaya Elektronika and Turpion Ltd.
