|Abstract:||We present a Slot waveguide design for dispersion compensation at 1538 nm wavelength. The design is based on a coupled strip slot waveguide with a strip slot separation of air medium. Resonance between the strip waveguide and slot waveguide has been utilized to achieve high dispersion. The simulation and analysis of design has been carried out by finite difference time domain method. Resonance between strip and slot mode results in a high negative dispersion of −4.8 × 105 ps/km-nm over an full width at half maximum bandwidth of 13 nm at 1538 nm centre wavelength. The resonance wavelength and magnitude of the dispersion can be fine tuned by varying the parameters strip width, slot width, and strip slot separation. Such a waveguide structure should find applications in the design of integrated-optic dispersion compensators for optical telecommunication and ultrafast waveguide lasers. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York.|
